Weight Management for Pets

The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association reports that more than 50% of pets are overweight. It is not uncommon for your pet to suffer from complications due to its weight. To assist pet parents with getting their pet to a healthy weight we offer weight management consultations. During their appointment, we check their weight and discuss their eating habits. To ensure that their weight hasn’t started to affect their overall health we run blood tests, ultrasounds and X-rays. To control your pet’s weight we may recommend different approaches which may involve special diets, supplements and exercise.

How do I know if my pet is overweight?

The best way to determine if your loyal companion is overweight is to work with a veterinarian. A clear indication that your pet needs veterinary attention is if their stomach is wider than their chest. When your pet comes into our hospital, one of our doctor will assess them and determine a healthy weight class for their age and breed.
